Whenever we decide on a home improvement plan we overlook the flooring. Installing a wood floor is a great idea as they not only look great but also can be refinished each time you decide to change the look of your house, especially if you want wood flooring in Nevada.

Things to remember when choosing a hardwood floor for your house:

1.Have a fixed budge for the flooring job. Don’t run behind the cheapest option because if the price is way too low, the quality would definitely suffer.

2. Select a wood floor according to the room it is to be fixed in.

3.While quality is important, looks too are, so make sure the flooring you choose matches your décor.

Thursday Tips: Choosing a Groundcover

Groundcovers are a better alternative than lawns for a number of reasons. They are low maintenance in that no mowing or watering is required, once the plants are established. They provide texture and colors not found in your typical lawn grasses. They work wonders in difficult locations such as steep slopes where they help stabilize soils, and under trees where light may be limited (try growing grass under a shade tree!). Planting a groundcover is much more attractive than bare dirt or gravel or black plastic weed barriers too!

Essentially, groundcovers are low growing plants, typically less than 9 to 12 inches high. Herbs make nice groundcovers as well, thyme for instance or mint. Full Article…

Factor fennel into your vegetable garden

Certain vegetables—fennel, for one—are unaccountably absent from most Canadian kitchens. Ask a German about Fenchel, or an Italian about finocchio, and they will tell you how mild and sweet it is, how crisp and refreshing eaten raw, how delicious braised or in a stew, how its anise flavour is distinct but not overpowering. Ask someone over here about fennel, and they may look puzzled: “Not sure I’ve ever tasted it.” Or they may think you mean the herb fennel, source of licorice-flavoured seeds sometimes used in cakes and confections or brewed as a digestive tea. But there is a big difference between that wispy dill-like herb and the bulbous vegetable often called Florence fennel.
